Today’s song, featured on The Morning Show with John Richards is "Teflon" by Spesh, from the 2018 album Famous World on Killroom Records.
WRITTEN BY JASMINE ALBERTSON

Seattle quartet Spesh make glimmering indie rock that feels simultaneously retro and forward-thinking. Made up of Michael McKinney, Sergio Miraz (both former members of Boyfriends), Brian Yeager (Deep Creep, Cute Lepers), and Morgan Dixon, the band released their debut album, Famous World, last month via Seattle label Killroom Records. Our Song of the Day, “Teflon,” swirls with sunshine despite the overcast weather it was made in.

"’Teflon’ was written to capture a short blip in time which everyone experiences at least once, if not many times in their lives,” says the band. “A beautiful, confusing, sad, and wonderful feeling that cannot be articulated in words, but is more of a feeling. It was written in early January of 2018 in Seattle and was inspired by drab rainy weather, and the lack of opportunity to spend any significant amount of time outside. Where better to spend your time but in your own head with a friend from your past and a pretty tune?"
