KEXP presents an installation of twenty framed pieces from Charles Peterson’s Nirvana: On Photography and Performance, on view beginning September 24 to align with the 35th anniversary of the release of the iconic Nirvana album Nevermind. The installation will run through February 2027.
Peterson’s photographs have long held the spirit of the 90s Northwest music scene in a visceral, timeless present. Drawn from his monograph of the same name, this installation features four photographs on the KEXP stage wall from Nirvana’s last “floor” show at Beehive Records in 1991. Other iconic images made here in Seattle stem from performances at the HUB Ballroom, Motorsports International Garage, Moore Theater, and the Seattle Center Coliseum. Photographs from the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC and from the Reading Festival in the UK are also included.

We are located on the Seattle Center campus, just north of Climate Pledge Arena, and a short walk from Seattle Center's iconic Space Needle. Our entrance is on 1st Avenue North between Harrison and Republican.
