This Brooklyn band’s impressive second album finds them ably carrying on after the departure of guitarist Adam Kessler, subtly tweaking their reverb-drenched blend of melodic, ‘80s-steeped post-punk and jangly pop by giving haunting synth textures as much prominence as their surf-influenced guitar lines while also showcasing bleaker and more personal lyrics, though the harmonies are just as buoyant and the melodies as memorably dreamy. 9/2/2011
