The 4th album from Sam Beam and co. finds him continuing to move away from his more acoustic-oriented, folk-pop beginnings to a fuller, more sumptuous and expansive sound flavored with jazz, funk, gospel, various African styles and more, with Beam’s typically dark and evocative songs fleshed out with a variety of electronic textures, fuzzy guitar tones, skronky sax, funky basslines, warm harmonies and his own honeyed lead vocals. 1/21/2011
