This Traverse City, MI/Chicago trio follows up their initial EPs with an impressive debut full-length of dark, distorted electro-pop combining elements of ethereal shoegaze a la the Cocteau Twins (or even the Twin Peaks soundtrack), southern hip hop (particularly Houston’s narcotized chopped ‘n screwed scene) and icy-cold synth-pop, goth and industrial. King Night is a creepy, unsettling and ultimately entrancing listen, featuring a thick, menacing atmosphere of distortion-blasted synths and guitars smothering the often-indecipherable lead vocals while drum machines kick out rattling hip hop beats underneath. 10/1/2010
