- (Brushfire)
The latest album from this prolific Minneapolis singer-songwriter is the darkest, rawest and most electric recording he’s ever made – it’s also his best. While he’s always been known for his thoughtful song craft, he hits much harder than usual here with deeply personal tales of displacement, addiction, death, loss and revenge, with raw, occasionally overdriven vocals accompanied by distorted electric guitar and a bare-bones rhythm section. 9/3/2009
