- (Interscope)
This New York trio tries something different on their 2nd album, mostly eschewing the raw aggression of their debut for a more produced and poppier sound that more prominently features the band’s New Wave influences on a variety of arty pop-rock gems. Instead of shrieking, Karen O. sings, and shows her voice can still be quite expressive in a more conventional context. And while not as wild as on the debut, Nick Zinner’s guitar work is outstanding here. 3/23/2006
