The Mekons accordionist has become a top-notch songwriter, and his second solo album is loaded with deeply felt, class-conscious roots-rock ranging from poignant, forlorn ballads to rousing, anthemic rockers. It could very well be the best Mekons-related album since The Mekons Rock ‘N’ Roll.
