  • Scott Weiland, the frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, died yesterday while on tour with his new band, The Wildabouts. The dynamic singer had a much publicized tumultuous life, but as VR bandmate Duff McKagan posted on the band’s Instagram, “It’s just so sad and brutal from any perspective”, adding "We experienced a good chunk of life with Scott, and even in his darkest times, we all had hope and love for him. His artistry will live on, of that, there is no doubt." [Hollywood Reporter]

  • Björk has shared a strange, avant-garde video for her Vulnicura track "Mouth Montra." The Icelandic legend literally gives you an up close and personal view of her mouth. Director Jesse Kanda said, "If there’s one thing I’d like for people to take away from this video, it's the power of vulnerability." [Pitchfork]

  • Nevermen - the side project of Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Mike Patton (Faith No More), and rapper Doseone - has released a new track from their upcoming self-titled album (out January 29). "Mr. Mistake" sounds like each of the artists are doing their own thing and yet somehow it blends together so wonderfully. [Stereogum]

  • Booking company Ground Control Touring celebrated its 15th anniversary earlier this week with a star-studded concert. During the concert Kurt Vile, Kim Gordon, and Steve Gunn took on The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray." Check out the performance below. [CoS]

  • Julian Casablancas teamed up with Savages' Jehnny Beth for a cover of "Boy/Girl," a 1984 classic, Danish punk track by Sort Sol and Lydia Lunch. The single will be released on December 18 via Casablancas' own label, Cult Records. [SPIN]
