If Tamaryn could be described by any one word, it would have to be "versatile". The New Zealand-born, current New York resident has been all over the map, collaborating with numerous artists on various projects - Dum Dum Girls, Bret Easton Ellis, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, to name a few. But now Tamaryn is stepping it up with an ambitious new record, Cranekiss, set to be released August 28th by Mexican Summer. An enormous but welcome departure from her shoegazey 2012 album, Tender New Signs, the new LP is Tamaryn at her best yet, and is "the album [she] always wanted to make." A swoon-worthy exploration of emotive dream pop, sample-heavy and psychedelic, Cranekiss brings forth a fresh, unapologetic take on pure experimental music. According to Tamaryn herself, "nothing is off-limits." Watch as Tamaryn proves it during this captivating set, filled with restless energy and her usual powerful vocals, live in the KEXP studio:
