It has the makings of an indie movie plot: Hip musician dad records album with son while his wife undergoes cancer therapy. The real story is a bit more complicated, but that's essentially the backdrop of Tweedy, the latest project of Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and his son Spencer. The duo recorded most of Sukierae (that's Sue Miller Tweedy's nickname) themselves, tracking twenty mostly buoyant tracks celebrating life's ups and downs. But when it came time to take Sukierae on the road, the Tweedys extended their family to include a tight knit group of friends - bassist Darin Gray, guitarist Jim Elkington, keyboardist Liam Cunningham and his sister Sima on backing vocals. All six "Tweedys" (legal name changes pending) crammed into the cozy KEXP studio to perform as part of our Live Streaming Video series. Watch the videos now (Independent Spirit Award pending):
