Pop Up Music Memory Digitization Labs
KEXP and the UW Ethnomusicology Archives (UW) are partnering with Seattle Public Library (SPL), Washington State University (WSU) and Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound (MIPoPs) to help our communities preserve their music memories. We're inviting listeners and patrons to visit our one day "Pop-Up Music Memory Digitization Labs" in the KEXP Gathering Space. Archivists and librarians from KEXP, UW, WSU, MIPoPS and SPL will assist attendees with creating digital copies of their music memories. Register online to reserve time in the labs built to transfer your video, audio, photos and small posters into digital file-based formats. Learn about best practices for preserving your music memories into the future. Take home a helpful zine covering the basics of digital preservation. Thumb drives will be provided for you to take your digital materials home on. If you're feeling particularly inspired, we will have a limited number of spots available to invite attendees into the KEXP recording booths for a short recording session where you can tell us the stories behind your materials.
