- (Warner Archives/Rhino)
An excellent 4-CD box set compiling recordings from the East LA roots-rockers' lengthy career, beginning with their early 1977 recordings of Mexican folkloric tunes and continuing up to the present. Showcasing the band's consistently high-quality songwriting and impressive mastery of a variety of musical styles -- from Tex-Mex and traditional Latin styles to rockabilly, roots rock, R&B and folk - this set makes a convincing case for one of the best bands to emerge in the past quarter-century.
