The sixth M83 album is Anthony Gonzalez’ most ambitious and also most pop-oriented recording to date. It’s an expansive 2-CD set of epic, ‘80s-influenced dream-pop suffused with the wide-eyed wonder of childhood, featuring a massive widescreen sound that’s densely textured with waves of glittering synths, sweeping strings, shoegazerish guitars, cascading drums, angelic backing choirs, occasional cinematic monologues and much more accompanying Gonzalez’ increasingly confident lead vocals. 10/18/2011
