- (Capitol)
The veteran New York rappers get back to the party-rocking basics on their 8th album, a fun, boisterous set of high-spirited hip hop packed with lots of old-school flavor. The album’s dense, skuzzy, electro-leaning sound combines squelchy synths, funky breakbeats and fuzzy guitars and bass lines with filtered vocals and the trio’s clever, playful raps, which mostly stick to rapidfire, call-and-response battle rhymes embellished with the Beasties’ usual flurry of pop culture references. 5/3/2011
