Foals: Total Life Forever
Buy! - (Sub Pop)
While this British band’s debut album Antidotes was a promising outing of frenetic post-punk, they’ve taken a big step forward with their 2nd album, a remarkably mature work that’s more adventurous and expansive while also containing much more emotional depth. The sound is more relaxed and spacious, the band’s rhythms are more smooth and slinky, and frontman Yannis Philippakis is also singing on this album instead of his previous gruff shouting. Best of all, the songs are more fully developed, making Foals’ sonic makeover an unqualified success. 5/28/2010 - Don Yates
