- (Nonesuch)
The Black Keys frontman steps out for an impressive solo album that expands a bit upon his band’s sonic template by using more prominent psych-rock textures along with shades of soul, country and folk, including some gorgeous acoustic-oriented ballads. Still, at the heart of the record is the kind of raw, scuzzy blues-rock that’s been the Keys’ trademark. 1/29/2009
