While this New York band put out their own debut album last year with limited distribution, it’s now been picked up and given a proper release by Clairecords. It definitely deserves greater attention – Strike a Match is a first-rate set of shoegazer psych-rock combining distortion-drenched guitars, electronics and Katherine Kennedy’s sweet vocals for songs that range from catchy dream-pop reminiscent of Curve and Medicine to noisy ambient instrumentals. 10/15/2008
