- (Geffen)
This experimental Icelandic band goes pop – sort of – on its fourth album, which also happens to be their most accomplished outing to date. Back to singing in Icelandic (rather than the made-up language they used on their previous album), Sigur Ros have expanded their instrumental palette while crafting a warmer and brighter orchestral-pop sound featuring some lovely piano-based melodies and gorgeous string arrangements. While their third album was stately, cold and ominous-sounding, Takk radiates with moments of child-like innocence and blissed-out joy. 9/12/2005
