- (Capitol)
This Portland band tones down their guitars a bit and piles on the keyboards for their latest album, an '80s New Wave-influenced outing that's reminiscent of Love and Rockets and Scary Monsters-era David Bowie. While their decadent pretensions often seem silly, these darkly textured, robotic songs charm more often than not thanks to some typically strong song hooks. 7/15/2003
