- (Warner Bros)
Last year's acoustic roots record ("Train A Comin") was just a warmup for the REAL comeback, as Earle's joined here by his old band the Dukes. He hasn't come up with such a natural balance between roots and rock elements since "Guitar Town" -- blues, country, Stones raunch, Southern rock, 50s R'n'R, soul and doo wop all blended into a powerful roots rock statement. And most important, many of these songs rank with his best.
