Dan the Automator (aka San Francisco's Daniel Nakamura) is a legendary producer and collaborator. A classically-trained violinist that began DJ'ing as a teenager in the 80s, his profile skyrocketed in the late 90s as the producer behind the classic underground hip-hop albums Dr. Octagonecologyst and Deltron 3030. His visionary cinematic beats on those albums exist in an imaginative sci-fi realm that still sound fresh today. The late 90s and early 2000s also found Dan forming the beloved duo Handsome Boy Modeling School with Prince Paul, producing Gorillaz's seminal self-titled debut album, and unleashing the cult classic album Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By as Lovage. His extensive discography continues to grow to this day, recently re-teaming with Kool Keith and DJ Qbert for the brand new Dr. Octagon album Moosebumps.
