This weekend, Friday, August 4th and Saturday, August 5th, the Chautauqua Music Festival takes over the Vashon Eagles on Vashon Island. The festival was founded to benefit elementary and middle school arts programs on Vashon Island. To date, Chautauqua has raised over 14,000 dollars to "help augment [Vashon schools'] ability to ensure every young, promising musician has the means to thrive in their music." This cause, which is near and dear to KEXP's heart, features a killer lineup of local music talent, headlined by Thunderpussy, Iska Dhaaf, Tilson xoxo, and weekend MC Brent Amaker.
The two day event will feature food from Seattle faves Via Tribulani and Cafe Vitta, as well as acclaimed Vashon eatery Gravy. In addition, there are several full service bars, and amenities for camping, including a shuttle to-and-from the Vashon Ferry. Most of all, however, it should be a great excuse to see a host of local musicians with the gorgeous backdrop of Vashon Island. For more information, check out their Facebook page.
