  • Local art-rap heroes Shabazz Palaces have released a new single with producer Thundercat called "Since C.A.Y.A." which will be on their forthcoming release Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star. It's one of the two brand-new albums the group is planning on releasing on the same day this summer, the other being Quazarz Vs. The Jealous Machines. They'll both be released 7/14 on Sub Pop. • The attack at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester that killed 22 people and wounded 59 on Monday didn't stop Broken Social Scene from playing the very next day in the very same city. They launched their European tour Tuesday night at Albert Hall with special guest Johnny Marr, who's from Manchester. They performed “Anthems For a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl” from the band’s 2002 release You Forgot It In People. “Thank you for showing up,” Kevin Drew told the crowd. “Thank you for coming out tonight. What’s most important is tonight we’re here together, all of us.” Their long-awaited latest release is out July 7th and will be their first since 2010's Forgiveness Rock Record. A Seattle date has not been announced. [ Pitchfork ]
  • It's been 15 years since The Kills released their very first EP, the lo-fi Black Rooster EP, and in honor of that Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince are releasing an EP of acoustic versions of their previous songs, as well as a cover of Rihanna's "Desperado." Entitled Echo Home - Non-Electric EP, it will be released digitally and on 10-inch vinyl on June 2 and was recorded at New York's Electic Lady Studios. The Kills are embarking on a European and South American tour but no North American dates have been announced. [ Under the Radar ]
  • The man behind Caribou, Dan Snaith, has announced a new release under his side project Daphni. His first Daphni release since 2012's Jialong, the new record is called fabriclive 93 and is the latest installment in London nightclub Fabric’s monthly LP series, which has been mixed by popular DJs since November 2001. There are two series that alternate months, entitled fabric and FABRICLIVE. The venue closed in 2016 amidst drug-related deaths but reopened earlier this year after the electronic music community rallied behind it. Snaith said of Fabric, “I’m always drawn to the eccentrics in each field of music and I love that a club like fabric, that is such a mainstay of London’s clubbing landscape, is also the de facto London home of dance music’s foremost eccentric.” First single "Face to Face" has been released and the new album is dropping July 21st.
