Mac DeMarco shares another new track from his forthcoming album This Old Dog, out May 5th via Captured Tracks. Check out the lovely single "On the Level" below. In a statement, DeMarco explains, "This record has a lot to do with my family and my life right now and the way I’m feeling. One of the main goals for this record was trying to make sure I retained some kind of realness. That’s the bottom line." DeMarco plays the Moore Theatre on Sunday, September 10th. [ Pitchfork ]

Their music sounds slated for a video game anyway, so it's kinda perfect uk trio alt-J have released one. If you visit their website, you can play the game, which is set in first-person (like Doom, if that reference means anything to you). The single "3WW" plays in the background, and photos of the band pop-up, depending on where you turn. The new album Relaxer is out June 2nd via Canvasback. [ Pitchfork ]

Psych-rock folkies Woods have announced a new album titled Love is Love, out April 21st via their own imprint, Woodsist. Check out the first single "Bleeding Blue" below. In a press release, the band explain they wrote it in the wake of the 2016 election, calling it "a document of protest in uncertain times and an open-hearted rejection of cynicism in favor of emotional honesty. It is bright, and then, unexpectedly, a little dark sometimes too." Woods return to Seattle, playing Friday, May 26th at The Sunset. [ Consequence of Sound ]

And we have another new track from the forthcoming Saint Etienne album to share. Stream the single "Magpie Eyes" below. Band member Pete Wiggs gives some background: "The title was inspired by a book about Creation Records My Magpie Eyes Are Hungry for the Prize, which in turn was taken from 'Up The Hill Down The Slope' by The Loft. I often find myself being so deep in thought that I’m not really listening to what my children are saying to me and I extrapolated guilty feelings over that into the story of someone who for a combination of personal ambition and commuter journey time ends up missing out on his kids growing up and not really knowing them or the 'Herberts' they might be hanging out with."
