  • St. Vincent has unveiled the video for MASSEDUCTION highlight track "Pills." Following in the vein of her previous visuals for "New York" and "Los Ageless," the video is a brightly colored, high fashion affair. Director Philippa Price focuses on a slew of model-appearing women making mannequin-like movements while popping pills. The song features Annie Clark's ex Cara Delevigne and saxophonist Kamasi Washington. MASSEDUCTION is out now on Loma Vista. St. Vincent will spend two night in Seattle on Thursday, January 18 and Friday, January 19 to play the Moore Theatre. [ SPIN ]
  • Russian shoegaze band Pinkshinyultrablast have shared a new song today called "In The Hanging Gardens." The gorgeous, sweeping song is reminiscent of Cocteau Twins and makes the anticipation for their follow-up to 2016's Grandfeathered all the more anticipated. The band shared another single, "Find Your Saint," a couple months ago so it's possible an album announcement will be made soon. [ Line of Best Fit ]
  • Seattle indie band Dude York are kicking off the holidays early by sharing their full-length Christmas album Halftime For The Holidays a week before its official release. Halftime For The Holidays features a mix of originals and classic holiday songs. The album will be out November 24 via Hardly Art. The trio are embarking on a tour this weekend and will be back Saturday, December 16 to play a homecoming show at the Crocodile. [ Stereogum ]
  • R&B singer Miguel is releasing his fourth album War & Leisure on December 1 via RCA. Today he shared the song "Pineapple Skies" off the forthcoming album. The optimistic song follows "Sky Walker," "Shockandawe," and "Told You So." Miguel has revealed that he'll be putting aside the love and lust for his new politically charged album and "Pineapple Skies," while not overtly political, definitely fits into that vein.   • John Cale played a star-studded show last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Velvet Underground's groundbreaking debut The Velvet Underground & Nico, Cale played the album in its entirety and brought Animal Collective, Caroline Polachek, and Kurt Vile onstage to help. Tomorrow night Cale is playing another show at the Brooklyn Acadamy of Music, this time to celebrate his 75th birthday by performing “bespoke arrangements of some of his classics and rarely heard songs, as well as a glimpse into the future with unreleased material.” [ Pitchfork ]
