  • Thee Oh Sees have cycled through a number of name changes over the years, and a few just in the past couple months, but for their forthcoming album Memory Of A Cut Off Head the California band is circling back to their original name OCS. Today OCS shared a new song off the new album called "The Fool." The stunningly somber song sees John Dwyer's longtime collaborator Brigid Dawson on lead vocals. Memory of a Cut Off Head is due out Nov. 17 via Castle Face and follows up the recently-released Orc.   • St. Vincent's highly anticipated new album MASSEDUCTION is being released in only eight days, and last night Annie Clark stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote it. Keeping with the colorful theme of her latest music videos, the set for "New York" featured Clark in red leather dress, standing in front of an open mouth while a man in a ski mask accompanied her on the piano. For "Los Ageless" Clark changed into a green leather dress, swapped the pianist for a hot pink guitar (which she obviously slayed), while a trio of black leather-clad legs poked from the wall behind her.   • The Smiths are reissuing their classic 1986 album The Queen Is Dead later this month, and today they've shared a previously unreleased demo of "I Know It's Over," included in the deluxe reissue. The 5xLP box set includes a newly remastered edition of the album, demos and rarities, a previously unreleased recording of a 1986 Boston concert, and a DVD with Derek Jarman's The Queen Is Dead film.   • Meg Remy has shared the first U.S. Girls single since her last album Half Free was released in 2015. Called "Mad As Hell," the song has a throwback Motown vibe but the accompanying video is far more politically charged. Directed by Remy and Emily Pelstring, the clip portrays Remy as a First Lady whose President husband is literally an empty suit. While Remy dances and croons, stock footage of political propaganda, newsreels, and war imagery flash behind her. The intention and message are clear but delivered with a wink. [ Brooklyn Vegan ]
