For their third and latest album, Wireless World, the Newcastle-based duo Warm Digits had the apocalypse on their mind. And more importantly, what the soundtrack should be. Drawing inspiration from Krautrock kings Kraftwerk and even sultans of shoegaze My Bloody Valentine, the twosome of Steve Jefferis and Andrew Hodson have crafted a release sure to keep you dancing towards certain death.

For today's Song of the Day, they recruited Sarah Cracknell of Saint Etienne on guest vocals. In an interview with Narc Magazine, they explain, "Bob [Stanley, of Saint Etienne] found us when he was researching north east musicians to work on Asunder and has been a great supporter of the band, inviting us to open for Saint Etienne at the Sage. We met Sarah when we played that support slot, and so later when we were considering guest vocalists we thought we would push our luck by asking her, and were delighted and amazed that she was up for it. She has been great and totally grounded and helpful through the whole process of shaping up the song, and also a soon-to-be-released video."

That video has since been released and can be watched below. The band stated: "We’ve always taken visual inspiration from experimental artists' film and video of the 1960s and 1970s, and this time we set up a Nam June Paik-style experiment in video feedback, with help from Sarah and our video collaborator Chris Bate from the Filmbee collective. With the resulting film, featuring streaming, colourised feedback images of Sarah's performance, we hope to amplify the song's chaotic joy and energy."

No dates in the states yet, but follow the band on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news. (Sarah, on the other hand, will be here with Saint Etienne on Monday, October 2nd at the Neptune Theatre.)
