  • While on a recent tour down under, Phantogram turned out a Radiohead cover for Australian radio station Triple J's Like a Version series. Hear their take on the 2007 In Rainbows track "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" below. The New York duo of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter are continuing to tour in support of last year's LP, Three.   • Earlier this week, we spotted Jason Lytle starring in a music video for Spiral Stairs (aka Scott Kannberg of Pavement), and today we've got new music from his own band, Grandaddy. Check out the single "Evermore" below, from the forthcoming full-length Last Place, their first LP in a decade. Lytle tells NPR, "I have no idea what the song is about. But I really like the imagery of sad dirty trees that live by the freeway and throwing stuff out of commercial airliners. Also the line ''When remembering is what forgetting's for.' It's kinda high-school-corny poetry, but I still like it a lot." Last Place hits stores on March 3rd via Danger Mouse's label 30th Century Records. [ Under the Radar]

  • The long running DJ-KiCKS series has been a wealth of excellent exclusive tracks since !K7 Records launched the curated compilation collection back in 1993. DJ/producer Matthew Dear hosts the next edition, and has included some of his own previously unreleased tracks, including collaborations with Pearson Sound, Nils Frahm, and others. Stream his work with Simian Mobile Disco below, on the track "Wrong With Us." Dear's DJ-KiCKS hits the streets January 27th. [ Consequence of Sound]

  • West coast's WHY? returns this Spring with a new album, their first since 2012’s Mumps, Etc. Stream the single "Proactive Evolution" from their upcoming album, Moh Lhean, out March 3rd via Joyful Noise. "Moh Lhean" is also the name of founding member Yoni Wolf's home studio where the album was crafted and then co-produced by his brother, Josiah. [ Stereogum]
