Midnight In A Perfect World: Prefuse 73

Midnight In A Perfect World
09/22/2016
Alex Ruder

Guillermo Scott Herren's early releases under his Prefuse 73 alias at the turn of the century proved to be groundbreaking, his fusion of intricate electronic production with high-quality instrumental hip-hop beats yielding a refreshingly innovative and highly influential sound. The current NYC-based producer has tackled a multitude of styles under various monikers over the years, yet his Prefuse 73 has been his most prolific and consistent inspiration. The evolution continues into 2016 with the new project Fudge, a progressive hip-hop team-up with Boston rapper Michael Christmas that unveiled their debut album Lady Parts earlier this month. For his Midnight in a Perfect World mix, Prefuse 73 has crafted a special set containing strictly new, unreleased, exclusive material from himself as well as his close collaborators (or potentially just new aliases) that provide a glimpse into his eclectic and ever-evolving sound.
