  • Sharon Van Etten wrote and recorded a new song inspired by the horrible events of the Pulse Club shooting in Orlando back in June. "Not Myself" is a beautiful and haunting tribute to the victims. Proceeds will go to the gun control nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety. [Pitchfork]In her statement, Van Etten wrote:
    I was home with my parents in New Jersey when I heard of the shooting at the nightclub in Florida. Hate, violence, and intolerance has always upset me, but I haven’t been this overwhelmed with sadness and disbelief in a long time. The victims were only trying to be themselves and be comfortable and safe in their surroundings. That safety was violated out of fear and with a gun.

  • Enigmatic math rockers American Football, have announced plans to release their second full-length album after a brief 17 year break. The self-titled album drops on October 21. And if those two months seem too far away, the band has debuted a new song called "I've Been So Lost for So Long" to hold you over. [SPIN]

  • Last month, Avalanches ended a sixteen year hiatus and released their critically acclaimed album Wildflower. The Australian electronic outfit have shared a delightfully trippy, animated video for the album track "Subway." Check it out. [Stereogum]

  • Singer-songwriter Matt Kivel has had a very busy 2016. Earlier this year he released Janus, and before this year's over he's planning to deliver another full-length called Fires On The Plain. Today, he's debuted the video for his latest track "Permanence," which has Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold singing backup. [Stereogum]
