Song of the Day: Nevermen - Mr. Mistake

Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part of our Song of the Day podcast subscription. The line-up for supergroup Nevermen is the invite list for the coolest party ever: TV on the Radio's charismatic frontman Tunde Adebimpe, Anticon co-founder and rapper Adam "Doseone" Drucker, and Mike Patton, the chameleon behind Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and a ton of other projects. They aligned their powers back in 2008, letting their first full-length gestate for nearly a decade. (Doseone says their mantra is "Don’t rush the fuckin’ music.") Over the years, Adebimpe and Doseone sent their collaborative demos to Patton, and together, they co-produced the final 10-track full-length which came out last month's on Patton's own Ipecac Recordings.

Despite the diversity of their personal styles, they merged together to form what Drucker calls "a three-headed monster." In an interview with UK publication The Skinny, Patton states, "We all approached this project from unique viewpoints and provided those instincts... but ultimately, it was an exercise carried out between the ears. Meaning: we trusted each other’s background and impulses. Nothing more. If you are looking for a ‘genre-flag', then keep looking."

Sadly, the band recently postponed their first tour due to "illness within the Nevermen family," adding, "the band hope to reschedule the shows in the near future."
