  • Last night, as she closed out a show at at Denver’s Ogden Theatre, Australian artist Courtney Barnett covered the track "Drunk on Election Night" by fellow Aussie Dan Kelly & the Alpha Males. (You can find the original version on his 2006 album Drowning in the Fountain of Youth.) The song has the chorus "Ohh cocksucker motherfucker." Not making a commentary, just stating the facts of what the lyrics are. Watch fan-shot footage of her performance below: [Stereogum]

  • It's pretty tricky to find music news out there that's unrelated to the 2016 election, but thankfully for us, Cloud Nothings have released a new video for yesterday's KEXP Song of the Day. Watch the clip for "Modern Act" below, directed by Michael J.S. Murphy. Set in the future, when band members are elderly, a haunted pair of Adidas stalks them like the Grim Reaper 'til the band are finally "reunited." Find the track on their forthcoming full-length Life Without Sound, out January 27th on Carpark Records. [Stereogum]

  • Floridian rockers Merchandise have had to cancel their west coast tour, including a KEXP in-studio and a December 1st stop at Barboza. At a recent Leeds show, frontman Carson Cox took a spill backstage, losing consciousness, fracturing his jaw, and losing several teeth in the process. Cox is seeing a specialist and is "expected to make a full recovery," but shows will be postponed 'til Spring 2017 in the meanwhile. KEXP sends our best wishes to Carson for a very speedy recovery. • Last night on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, legendary artist Stevie Wonder stopped by for a moving rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" on harmonica, and an uplifting performance of "Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing" with Colbert on guest vocals. Watch below, and keep track of all these late night musical highlights with KEXP's TV Eye column. [Spin]
