  • Durham, NC duo Sylvan Esso (aka Mountain Man’s Amelia Meath and Megafaun’s Nick Sanborn) share a fun new track today, "Kick Jump Twist," the b-side to "Radio" which came out earlier this year. As the title implies, it's a fun, energetic single -- check it out below. Both tracks are out today on a 12" single via Loma Vista Recordings. Let's hope a follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut is on its way. [Stereogum]

  • My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James shares a video for the track "Here in Spirit" off his most recent solo LP, Eternally Even, out now via ATO/Capitol. Via Facebook, James writes, "so much confusion in the world right now...so much pain and chaos. in times like these its easy to get angry and direct our sadness into the empty space-time false reality vacuum of the internet. but we have to try and stay positive and continue to work and speak out for peace and love and equality-in the real world... right now. we need to reach out to those we disagree with and find common ground. we must fight the divide and conquer techniques that are working so well to hold us back from universal love. that is part of what inspired moments in this video - hopeful snapshots of what that world could look like if we chose love and understanding over fear and hatred. no one can afford to stay silent. we need every vote. we need every voice. all of us need to speak out now louder than ever before in an effort to bring about lasting peace and love. much respect to all those working so hard for peace and love right now. the world so badly needs and is grateful for your work. thanks for listening." KEXP presents Jim James, playing Tuesday, December 6th at the Neptune Theatre (moved from Showbox SoDo). And one dollar from every ticket purchased on this tour will benefit My Morning Jacket's Waterfall Project, which will donate to the following organizations: Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund, The Fairness Campaign, and Healthcare Now. • And while on the topic of Jim James, Monsters of Folk -- his supergroup with M. Ward, Conor Oberst, and Mike Mogis -- are indeed planning a follow-up to their 2009 self-titled debut. The guys are even planning a film. In a recent Reddit AMA, James wrote, "We started another Monsters of Folk record a few years ago, for a screenplay that Conor wrote for a Monsters of Folk film. We hope both happen someday, cuz we wanna write music for the film, but it’s tough to get a weird film made these days! Maybe someday!" [Consequence of Sound]

  • Hip hop pioneers A Tribe Called Quest continue to celebrate their newly-released sixth LP, We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service, the band's first new album in 18 years, and their last. Today, they share a clip for the track "We the People," featuring living members Q-Tip, Jarobi White, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, with an animated mural of late MC, Phife Dawg. It's a pretty powerful clip, with the guys broadcasting their message over loudspeakers placed around New York City. Watch below. [Spin]
