The forthcoming Kurt Vile album may be titled b’lieve i’m goin down..., but the songs on this release only reveal an artist on the rise. KEXP is excited to premiere the streaming debut of Vile's sixth (and strongest) full-length, out September 25th on Matador Records. The Philadelphia-based artist has seemingly grown up before our very eyes: now a father and husband, the new album is an introspective reflection on his day-to-day. "I woke up this morning / Didn’t recognize the boy in the mirror," he sings over and over on the album's first single "Pretty Pimpin'," echoing how many of us feel about the aging process. In a press release, Vile says, "I wanted to get back into the habit of writing a sad song on my couch, with nobody waiting on me. I really wanted it to sound like it's on my couch -- not in a lo-fi way, just more unguarded and vulnerable."And Vile truly lets his guard down with songs like "Stand Inside" and "All in a Daze Work," seemingly a slice-of-life capture of life on the road with his last full-length, Wakin on a Pretty Daze. None other than Kim Gordon (yes, that Kim Gordon) says, "It's a weird, accepting, mature record, acknowledging the inherent immaturity of being a person whether father, husband, partner, adult, musician, not perfect, but compelling for its understanding."

Kurt Vile stops by Seattle on Sunday, October 18th at The Showbox, and will be LIVE on KEXP the next day on Monday, October 19th at 1:00 PM PT. 'Til then, curl up on the couch with this full album stream:
