Summertime is the perfect season to chill out, and our friends at Decibel Festival helped bring an amazing evening of electronic bliss to Seattle Center last Friday as part of the 2014 Concerts at the Mural Series!
KEXP's own Kid Hops and Nordic Soul (aka Decibel Festival founder Sean Horton) kicked off the evening with some dreamy DJ sets. The weather may have been hot, but the beats were extremely cool as local artist IG88 brought his gorgeous ambient sounds to the stage. Another local artist, Katie Kate, had the crowd on its feet with her fierce hip-hop hybrid songs. Closing out the evening was Ninja Tune Records artist Yppah — whose name, we learned, is the word "happy" backwards, and whose music is the word "happy" in every direction. This super-chill California-based artist combined hip-hop, electronica, and shoegaze to create his atmospheric tracks, and it got even cooler when he invited Seattle's own Anomie Belle on to the stage.
