Ain't no lie: Los Angeles trio Liars wove a captivating web over us with their dark, atmospheric in-studio session. Entwined in a colorful skein of yarn, inspired by the cover for their latest release Mess, the long-running electro-punk band strung listeners along with their dark dance pop. The colored string is not unintentional: as former art students and visual art enthusiasts, frontman Angus Andrew explained to DJ Troy Nelson, "We started to realize, even though it looks like a mess of string from the gutter of Sunset Boulevard — is that a mess, or something that's particular?" Watch as the band bring their particular mess on a mission to the KEXP studios in this brooding post-punk set:
