L.A. dance music duo Classixx is band who gets what they want: when the pair decided they wanted LCD Soundsystem vocalist Nancy Whang for their track "All You're Waiting For," they flew out to New York, and as explained to KEXP DJ Cheryl Waters during a recent session at KEXP, they had to "kidnap her and lock her in the studio to make it happen." It's that same determination that helped evolve childhood friends Tyler Blake and Michael David from being behind-the-scenes DJs (creating memorable remixes for Phoenix, Fischerspooner, Groove Armada, and many more) to stepping into the spotlight with their acclaimed debut album, Hanging Gardens. With their background as musicians (Blake attended the Berklee School of Music), they strive to bring a live element to their stage show. As David explained, "We specifically wanted to have it stripped-down so it feels somewhat authentic," with Blake adding, "We wanted to minimize the backing tracks, and maximize the danger." Watch them bring their dangerous disco beats live to the Midday Show:
