Some things change and some things stay the same. It's been a while since Lou Barlow and Jason Loewenstein recorded under the name Sebadoh, but listening to the Secret EP, the precursor to the band's forthcoming full-length, you'd think it had been only fourteen months, not fourteen years. Thanks to the ongoing trend of bands reuniting for anniversary tours and to commemorate album reissues, some times the spark of creativity rekindles as it did, thankfully, for this iconic lo-fi indie band. Their skills and equipment may have improved over time, giving the songs a bit more polish than before, but Barlow and Loewenstein remain as fiercely independent as ever. And though Barlow's songs stem from recent turmoil, a divorce from his wife of 25 years, ultimately it's just another batch of breakup songs. Watch their recent in-studio as the duo, and drummer Bob D'Amico, trade songs and talk about hippy records, cats and how little time has actually passed:
