Our live guests today, The Moondoggies, have one of this week's top new releases with their excellent third LP, Adios I'm a Ghost. The Seattle band has long been a KEXP favorite, and their fans certainly won't stop loving them after hearing their latest, which our Music Director, Don Yates, calls "a beautifully crafted set of roots-tinged rock that combines the expansiveness of their second album with the more visceral qualities of their debut, featuring a warm, dynamic sound with acoustic and electric guitars, organ and Fender Rhodes piano, luminous three-part harmonies and soulful lead vocals" by principle songwriter, Kevin Murphy. After hearing a sample of it live on the Midday Show today at 11AM, you'll want to rush out to your favorite record shop, where you'll also find the terrific second album by Washed Out. On Paracosm, Georgia’s Ernest Greene creates "an often-stunning set of dreamy, psych-tinged electro-pop, featuring lusher production and a much greater variety of instrumentation than his 2011 debut, Within and Without" as well as "richly detailed arrangements combining warm, atmospheric synths with a variety of instrumentation ranging from vintage keyboards like the Mellotron and Optigan to sitar, marimba and steel guitar for a wistful, melody-rich sound that’s ideal for Greene’s hazy vocals to lazily float above." While that's a great description, listening to the album will prove a mind-blowing experience beyond words.

Though the list of other releases this week is short, there are a few more you're definitely going to want to pick up, from Australian duo Jagwar Ma, whose "excellent debut album is strongly rooted in late ‘80s-early ‘90s Manchester dance-rock (Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets) and effortlessly blends psych-rock and New Wave pop with acid house, techno, funk and other dance styles with a smartly executed combination of bright keyboards, trippy psych guitars, baggy dance beats, impressive harmonies and sunny melodies; from Seattle band Chastity Belt, who performed during last week's packed Concert at the Mural, and whose debut LP is "a promising blend of angsty post-punk and moody dream-pop, combining gently ringing guitar lines with Julia Shapiro’s impassioned vocals and often-acerbic lyrics"; and from veteran Boston combo Barrence Whitfield and the Savages, whose latest album is "a fun, party-rockin’ blend of garage-rock, high-energy R&B and jump blues with primal guitar riffs, energetic rhythms and swinging sax accompanying Whitfield’s gritty vocals."
