This Tuesday, Portland synth pop band STRFKR kick off their tour in support of new record Miracle Mile at the Neptune with San Francisco electronic shoegaze artist Blackbird Blackbird. The bill is solid. STRFKR are back stronger than ever on Miracle Mile building off of the perfected pop textures we saw on Reptilians and progressing with a more diverse palette of sounds and songwriting styles. Overall, the record is stellar and I'm sure won't lend itself to any sort of depreciation of their famously good live show. STRFKR are as much of a party onstage as their sound would infer, but their musicianship is keen and the stylistic development over their years of existence keeps the show fresh the whole night through. Here are a couple of Miracle Mile cuts to look forward to hearing.

STRFKR's opener is none to skip out on this tour. Blackbird Blackbird also just dropped a fantastic new record, Boracay Planet, that marks a sharp upwards turn in songwriting development and prowess. While shoegaze texture is heard throughout, Blackbird Blackbird is all about the 80s pop. "It's A War" is covered in the same glistening polish that makes the best of Modern English shimmer and shine in an epic manner, albeit with a shy delivery. On the other hand, tracks like "All" are a different beast altogether, combining 80s house with a lot of other influences to make for a good jam all around. Tuesday night, especially at the Neptune with its plethora of reverb despite the small space, Blackbird Blackbird will no doubt get the night started off in the right way. You won't want to miss it.

See you Tuesday! Grab tickets here.
