I might not have gotten on the Odd Future bandwagon back when it began, but that doesn't mean I was going to miss Earl Sweatshirt this year at Sasquatch. He took stage simply - his black Supreme sweatshirt (hood up of course), OF DJ Syd backing him up close behind. Lucky for the audience ("Hey Coachella!") he played new tracks from his upcoming album Doris - all of which were full of Earl's witty, humorous but still heavy, rap. Not to mention they feature everyone from RZA to Pharrell to Frank Ocean. Earl might not be a 17 year old anymore, but he's definitely one of the current the young punks of the rap world - not interested in reverence and respect based on nothing. He'll have respect when he feels it, and he'll be reverent probably never - and he is probably only going to get better at the rap game. As Earl performed, leaning over the stage, starting call and responses, a storm built up behind him - both he and the weather don't really care what the audience thinks, but luckily for us the rain held off, and Earl was happy to rap the whole set through.
