KEXP DJs

DJ Chilly : Variety Mix, Thurs. 1-6AM

Time at station:
I started volunteering at the station in October of 2000 and have been volunteering at least one day a week ever since. In the spring of 2002 I began getting paid for part-time work helping with production, the in-studio performances and on-air DJ massages. I began filling in for our DJs in the fall of 2002 and take the reins whenever they'll let me.

Real job:
What's that?
You can catch me spinning funk, soul and a bit of reggae and hip-hop every Tuesday night at the Alibi Room from 10pm until 2am.

Credentials:
I've been DJing since junior high school and began getting serious about it in college where I studied audio production. I've done club nights, house parties and even a couple of weddings. I'm a music freak who spends way too much time spinning and learning about music. I'm also a bad (as in, not good) drummer, guitarist, pianist, beat-boxer and clarinet player. Aside from that I try and get in the studio and record and edit music projects whenever possible.

My Favorite Musical Styles:
funk, jazz, soul, reggae & hip-hop, but I like anything that's good: from Johnny Cash to Aphex Twin, Built to Spill to Buena Vista Social Club

My Most Memorable Moments:
seeing the Pixies open for U2
when Bobby Bland asked me what I knew about the blues
having Mr. Lif do a freestyle about me
playing "Come As You Are" and "Blister In The Sun" on the keyboards during half-time at my high school basketball games
helping Greg Vandy with the Roadhouse show every Wednesday night

If you'd like to be notified of when I'll be on the air send me an e-mail.
