UK quartet Holiday Ghosts released their spirited sophomore record West Bay Playroom last month via PNKSLM Recordings. The name comes from the place where the album was recorded – the playroom of frontman Sam Stacpoole’s childhood home – but also conveys the playfulness of the songs on the record.
Our Song of the Day, “Slipstream,” is a surfy slacker bop, with Stacpoole’s vocals switching from the lackadaisical talk-singing similar to that of the Velvet Underground (who they frequently get compared to) to the ebullient weirdo pop of Talking Heads. The song comes with a video focused on a buttoned-up rollerblader skating and swerving down a seaside boardwalk.
West Bay Playroom follows 2017’s self-titled debut. Watch the video for “Slipstream” below.
