Alt-country husband/wife duo Shovels & Rope are releasing a new album on April 12 titled By Blood. Their first since 2016’s Little Seeds, the record sees Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent play every instrument on 8 of the 10 songs making up the album. Our Song of the Day is the rocking stomper “The Wire,” which the band describes as “the sound of your heart breaking. Are you listening?”
Hearst and Trent have a number of exciting projects surrounding the new record including a children’s book based on a song from By Blood and a tour documentary titled Shovels & Rope: The Movie. For the third year, the duo will curate and host their High Water Festival on April 14.
