South London art-pop duo Virginia Wing released their third full-length, Ecstatic Arrow, last month to all-around rave reviews. Recorded by the duo at their friend and collaborator Mish Hering’s home in Switzerland. Our song of the day, “Be Released,” combines elements of Eastern music with heavy synths while frontwoman Alice Merida Richards’ vocals shift between monotone speak-singing and heavenly sing-singing. Ecstatic Arrow follows 2016’s Forward Constant Motion. Below, check out the video for Ecstatic Arrow single, “The Second Shift,” directed by Oscar Foster-Kane. The video “seeks to represent the roles of both the surveyor and the surveyed that exist within female identities; An observance of others versus a continual self-scrutiny on behalf of the observer. It's not possible to dance like nobody’s watching, because someone always is.”
