Massachusetts four-piece Speedy Ortiz is returning this spring with their first album since 2015's Foil Deer. Titled Twerp Verse, the album is due out April 27th via Carpark. Our Song of the Day is the lead single "Lucky 88" which takes a step away from their previous material, sounding more like frontwoman Sadie Dupuis' solo work under Sad13. Twerp Verse was written in four months after the presidential election following a scrapped album the band had started writing in the fall of 2016. "The songs on the album that were strictly personal or lovey-dovey just didn't mean anything to me anymore – that's not the kind of music I've found healing or motivating in the past few years, and I was surprised I'd written so much of it," said Dupuis in a statement. "Social politics and protest have been a part of our music from day one, and I didn't want to stop doing that on this album." Catch Speedy Ortiz on Wednesday, June 13 at the Vera Project.
