Crooked Man is one of the many projects and nicknames of the English producer Richard Barratt, who is most famous for being one half of the duo Sweet Exorcist, alongside Cabaret Voltaire founder Richard H Kirk. He also made music under the names Funky Worm and The All Seeing I in the 80s and 90s. For Crooked Man, Barratt teams up again with Michael Somerset Ward (Clock DVA) and David Lewin (Bleep & Booster) in the studio to craft a sweeping collection of electro-pop house jams in the new record Crooked House. Our Song of the Day, “Turnaround,” is a disco-tinged mellow burner that lives around the halfway point of the album.
Earlier in 2018, Barratt released the EP Echo Loves Narcissus based on the Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus. Listen to “Turnaround” below.
