Seattle-based indie band Cumulus is the project of Alexandra Niedzialkowski, who released her sophomore album under the moniker last month. Titled Comfort World, the album was recorded at Chris Walla’s Hall of Justice with Mike Davis (of the band Seacats) helming the production alongside Niedzialkowski. The album was inspired greatly by a rather traumatic year in which Niedzialkowski was both fired from her job and broke up with her boyfriend. Our Song of the Day, “Sing To Me,” is a driving indie rock jam.
“Sing to me” is a song about that difficult realization that you and a person you used to feel so connected to, no longer speak the same language,” explains Niedzialkowski. “When a relationship ends, there almost always seems to be one person moving on a little faster than the other. I wrote this from the perspective of the person being left in the dust, trying desperately to reconnect and make something new out of the broken pieces of the past. By the end of the song I began to understand maybe it would be more freeing to let it be, and accept the person walking away.”

Proper Groove is a Seattle-based nonprofit whose mission is to support survivors by implementing comprehensive sexual and bias-based violence prevention strategies in underserved environments.
