You Said Strange come from the north-western region of Normandy in France, but make a particular type of psychedelic that feels full-blown 1970s Californian. Our Song of the Day, “Brain,” initially appeared in 2016, on EP#2, but re-emerged on the band’s debut full-length, Salvation Prayer, released this year via London-based psych label Fuzz Club. The nearly 7-minute song is a traditional psych-rock odyssey that’s incredibly ambitious.
Salvation Prayer was produced by Peter Holmström of The Dandy Warhols at his hometown studio in Portland. You Said Strange’s 2016 video for “Brain” showcases traditional psychedelic motifs by layering warped footage over clips of the band playing. Watch it below.
